I’ve not spent a lot of time watching television lately, nothing intentional I just had other things to do, but every time I do I hear commentary about Charlie Kirk. My biggest take away from listening to this is that ‘we are responsible for this,’ and I am definitely using the ‘we’ collectively.
If for some dumb reason people in positions of authority (Presidents, former Presidents, Senators, Governors, etc.) think that they can go around and call people they disagree with ‘Hitler’ or ‘Nazi,’ and not think that there is a high probability that some nut job out there is not going to go out and kill someone then they are completely naive no, let me rephrase that, ‘just stupid.’
So, Charlie who never hurt anyone, who just wanted a couple of things ends up dead. He wanted us to talk to each other (but more importantly to actually listen to one another), and he wanted us to bring God back into our lives to return to the Judeo-Christian values on which this country was founded.
Let’s stop pretending otherwise. What really has me riled up is listening to former leaders and network news personalities (and you all know who I’m talking about) who were spewing hate now saying how sorry they are or ‘we condemn violence’ when they caused it. You cannot go around calling all MAGA people fascists, Calling Trump a ‘dictator’ or ‘Hitler’ like you have been doing constantly since his first term and not expect some crazy like Thomas Cooks or Ryan Roth to try and kill him
Oh, let me tell you about us ‘MAGA people’ most of us are having emotion exactly like folks did when Martin Luther King was shot, but please, please, look at how we are responding. When King was shot, I was still in the Army and of all places the DC area and you know what I was doing for over a week ‘riot control training’ thank God I never got called but I had friends who did, they were spit on, had bricks thrown at them and were called every curse word imaginable. Same thing happened when George Floyd was killed, God forbid anybody wait for the wheels of justice to turn, no we’re going to exercise our right to riot, and burn down our neighbor’s store or the local Wendy’s.
Today young men and women all over this great country are not marching looting destroying, no, they’re holding pray vigils, creating memorials with cards, flowers, and WORDS, or just deciding like me it is time to speak their mind.
So please "Prove Me Wrong" all this vitriol is coming for one place, but I do not even have to tell that to you, do I?
